ACCCI was formed in 1944 by companies interested in establishing a forum to discuss and act upon issues of common concern to their industry. Today, ACCCI represents 7 of the 8 independently owned and operated U.S. "merchant" coke producers; several integrated steel companies which produce coke; and, all 4 of the U.S. and 1 Canadian coal chemicals companies which refine coal tar. Nearly 160 representatives from about 50 companies contribute their knowledge and expertise to enhance the effectiveness of the Institute's programs.
